Project Overview
Behan Bros. completed the historical preservation of the Resthaven Cottage located on Bellevue Ave. in Newport. The original house was built in 1870 with subsequent additions completed in the later years. The restoration includes complete exterior siding and paint, chimneys rebuilt to include original details, and cast decorative roof railings fabricated to match period photographs of the house. The interior includes restoration and replication of the original trim, crown moldings, fireplace mantels and significant light fixtures. In addition to the main house, a new 2 story carriage house was built based on original drawings by a preeminent architect of the period of Richard Morris Hunt.
